Recreating Gerhard Ritcher painting for my art class.
Abstract painting is not my kind of dance, it's draining in every way.
Financially, I've bought $200 worth pf art supplies just this month.
Physically, I feel like screaming every time I have to pay $13 for a tube of paint, $30 for a canvas and much more!!! Blood, sweat, and money are all going to a tube of paint.
Mentally: these sort of painting require time and passion, I'm lacking in both. No time and what the hell is passion??
I feel like I'm doing a doing a decent job, but every time I look at the orginial I feel like screaming!!!

I suggest you do what I did when I was in art school: go find the art department dumpsters and get all the old paint and cast off art projects & materials and make art with that. I've also enjoyed painting on doors, glass, wood, cardboard, metal sheeting, drywall, furniture, cork board, industrial siding, and other flat thin objects. I go to the hardware store and look in the 'discard' paint area -- gallons of house paint that was mixed and was the wrong color, or was returned -- you can get paint for cheap there. Art material is expensive -- buy unstretched unprimed canvas by the roll and learn to stretch and mount and prime your own canvases. It isn't hard to do -- and it is fun -- you could also go in with a few other people for the expense of canvas, wood, and primer so a few people can have canvases and I bet the basic tools are there in the art department for the building. If you need tips on how to build a canvas, ping me.
