Muse - musing?

They say that every writer needs to have a muse, do I need one, as well? Will I feel inspired and write something mind blowing then? Most of the time I feel the world is my muse,  experience and existence is a form of muse. Sometimes I look at nature and become inspired to a point where my mind is exploding with new born thoughts.

Authors often see someone and crown them as their muses' and then they proceed to create a master piece. Can you really be inspired by the presence, existence and appearance  of one individual? Perhaps its not the muse that causes you to become inspired, but you're driven by your need to impress the muse?

Bottom line, a muse is a must? or not? I feel a sense disconnection arise when this topic is brought forth.  Many times, I mention the fact that I'm a writer to people they take a step backward. Once I was told that writing was a phase people like "me" go through and that I would get over it. Ha! Not likely!  Apparently, I've been labeled as " too insensitive" to be a writer. I get it, creative individuals have a sensitive side, doesn't mean they are enslaved to their emotional needs. I've never been a leaky cauldron and I'm not likely to be.
I'm majoring in business, HR management to be precise because that position would be stable source of income for me. Writers die hungry and homeless if they rely on their talent to feed them. No matter, what I do in life I always refer to myself as a writer, inside I'm a writer.  Anyone who has a problem with that should discuss that with the on going monologue in my head.

  1. I don't think inspiration can be contained in one person, but certain people I have loved have inspired me to write about certain things. No muse is required for my creativity, it simply IS, in me, or through me, and it comes through if I am open to express it. The expressing of this mysterious lovely creativity that comes beyond me and my little personality is something I have followed all my life and I will never stop communing with it. I picked other things to do in life to make a living, so I never had to compromise with my creativity. I do know some writers and artists who have been very successful, monetarily -- every true poet I ever knew, was broke. Having a way to make a living, and being secure in work is important, like creativity an expression is important, to me. Thanks for the posts. It is always interesting to see what you have to say. 3. That is exactly how I view it, inspiration can't be contained in one person. Inspiration is far to big and great to contained in just one portion. I think you have an interesting perception on many things, too.

Thanks, I'll check out that site.
